The Punjab government has resolved to hire thousands of teachers for all public sector schools run by the School Education Department (SED).
The choice has been made to solve the province’s severe teacher shortage. The action is also a component of the province’s attempts to combat unemployment.
More than 16,000 teachers would be hired by the Punjabi government, Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan, the provincial education minister, tweeted.
According to the Minister, SED Punjab had hired more than 230,000 teachers on merit during the previous PML-N administration from 2013 to 2018.

The Punjab Teachers Union (PTU) submitted a request to the newly elected government of Punjab last month, requesting that it raise the pay of teaching and non-teaching staff members at all public sector schools and colleges by an additional fifty percent.
According to Chaudhry Sarfraz, the Central President of the PTU, the teaching and non-teaching personnel are the backbone of the education system; nonetheless, they are suffering as a result of poor salaries in the midst of crushing inflation.
